Universal Scrap Metals Newsletter – March 2025

HR Corner

We’re transitioning our HR and Payroll system from Paycom to Paylocity this April!

Paylocity’s enhanced features, mobile app functionality, and more user-friendly platform will allow us to better serve our employees.

Over the upcoming months, we will be implementing features with Paylocity, including:

  • HR & Payroll : The self-service portal where you are able to view pay stubs, request time off, make deduction changes and edit direct deposit preferences.
  • Time & Labor: How you’ll punch, submit time sheets, and view schedules.
  • Benefits: How you’ll be able to make selections for your benefits coverage.
  • Learning: We’ll simplify our training with everything in one place.
  • Performance: We’ll be able to recognize a job well done throughout the year instead of only at review time. No more paper reviews, confusing rating scales, etc
  • Surveys: Get valuable feedback from your coworkers.

· 4/11/2025: First Payroll – All paychecks this date and after will be in Paylocity

Embracing Change in the Workplace Safety Talk

Change can be good or bad, depending on what the change is and more importantly, how you react to it.  Individuals who adapt and embrace the change are the ones who continue to thrive; whether that is at home or in the workplace.

Change in the Workplace

Whether it is the use of computers, improved technologies, law changes, schedule changes, shifts in business, and even the use of robots- there have been drastic changes in the majority of workplaces over the last few decades.

Motivational Quote

Joke of the Month

Why did the copper wire break up?

Because it couldn’t handle the current situation!

Metal Fact

Stainless steel is not actually stain-proof! It’s called “stainless” because it resists rust and corrosion much better than regular steel, thanks to the chromium content (at least 10.5%), which forms a protective oxide layer. However, under extreme conditions—like prolonged exposure to saltwater or harsh chemicals—it can still develop stains or even rust.
